Janet and Mike's Solar Story from Turangi

Separate bills nightmare

For our mains electricity and as we live near Turangi, we come into the area of the lines company of Te Kuiti who transport electricity and Trustpower supply it. This set up gives us separate bills per month for electricity and supply. Everywhere else in NZ has the supply and electric all in 1 bill!

Very happy with the result

We have been looking through our electricity bills for the last year and doing the totals as best we can. It is a bit complicated as we had to have and pay for a new meter that was installed in March

2019 as we were then exporting electricity for the first time. When we subtract our lines charges from the solar power we have exported we are just over $50 in credit for the last year. This has exceeded our expectations and we are very happy with the result.

We keep our electricity demand low

Our new house is well insulated, and we have a wood burning stove with a wet-back for hot water in the winter. We can keep our electricity demand low.

We made the right decision in getting solar power with a Tesla battery and hope that it will look after us in years to come”.
